Serving papers amid Coronavirus Pandemic 2020
During the Coronavirus Pandemic on a serve, a man approximately in his 80’s looked at Ruth Eisenberg with anger and frustration. He was “served” a restraining order, the case became another of her “One Day at Process Server Camp” stories. Eisenberg was serving papers on him and was successful. She was waiting outside for a woman relative to call him and accept the court papers. Eisenberg was waiting for the man outside and greeted another relative in the driveway, as he stood beside her. “It was a lovely evening and being polite is always the Only choice”, Eisenberg states.
The elderly man came out and received the papers, stating he could not hear a thing. The relative who called the Defendant asked Eisenberg in a rude manner, “Why are you questioning my other relative” “I was not questioning your relative, I said good evening to him”, Eisenberg says. The question here is was the man “served”? “Most Definitely,” Eisenberg stated with confidence. I carefully read court documents of Defendants that may be dangerous, such as domestic or violent cases. “I stay quick on my feet.”, Eisenberg states. A woman facing changes on Parent Child Relationship has cursed me out on my Birthdate, calling me “Ghetto” “Happy Birthday to me”, Eisenberg gently smiles and says. “There is no time to relax, you must stay extremely vigilant at All times.” “When people are being “served” papers, emotions can be overwhelming for some Defendants” “Always remain vigilant, no matter what”, Eisenberg states.
“Sometimes service of process can get your adrenaline pumping”, Eisenberg states; serving divorce papers to return children back to their home state, are not fun. “The Defendant is running, hiding and no one wants to be told what to do, especially during a Divorce” “This includes some people that want to control a spouse by putting fear” “I remain neutral during all of this”, Eisenberg says. Process Servers must be at All times neutral and serve court documents in order for both parties to go before a Judge.
Safety First
“Most of the serves are quick, you serve the papers and leave immediately.” “Sometimes people share their story, and I let them know it sounds like my life”, Eisenberg says. “Working long hours and sometimes running against time may hinder me from hearing someone out”, Eisenberg states. “I believe everyone deserves human dignity and respect” “Especially if you are in their home.” Eisenberg, has gone to serve papers on a Defendant who was crying, because she was scared of going through a messy Divorce. “The Defendant was waiting for me to serve her, she had two small children with her, and when I arrived she asked me for a hug? Eisenberg, made an exception and hugged the Defendant (note: This was before Coronavirus Pandemic).” The Defendant uncontrollably cried on her shoulder and Eisenberg subsequently listened to her story. “After all, we are All human and have our sad stories”, Eisenberg says.
